Artist Bio

Frances Ashe is an artist based in Ottawa whose paintings and drawings center on the human figure.  She explores the complex relationship between mind and body and investigates psychological and emotional forces as expressions of the human form.  Ashe holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Dalhousie University and after nine years as an analyst in the Technology industry she left her job to study art, earning a Fine Arts Diploma from the Ottawa School of Art in 2026. She has participated in several group shows in Ottawa, and is the recipient of the David and Nicole Henderson scholarship (2025) and the Lilian Rapport scholarship (2025). In Fall 2026, she will begin the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Studio program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
